Collections Supervisor (St. Louis, MO)


Directs, coordinates, supervises and performs timely and consistent collection practices in the collection of delinquent loans. Manages those involved in collecting overdue payments for secured and unsecured accounts while maintaining exceptional member service. Maintains strict compliance with all applicable guidelines and regulations as related to consumer collection practices.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Works closely with management to research, develop and implement collection procedures that reduce the amount of delinquency encountered and increase collector production.

Oversees plans, organizes and directs the daily collection efforts- Ensure compliance with Credit union guidelines and policies. Reviews account notes/documents for accuracy and completeness prior to recommending further action. Acts as second voice and/or takes escalated calls from Collectors.

Coaches, develops, and trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; addresses complaints and resolves problems through a process of ongoing communication. Promotes an ongoing learning environment by recommending learning opportunities to enhance staff knowledge and skills.

Researches and analyzes data on past due loan accounts, presents ideas, outlines findings and makes recommendations for improvements. Designs, produces and enhances risk-focused reports and assembles the data required to produce them.

Receives, researches, and replies to internal and external calls and e-mails regarding problems or questions related to collections.

Is knowledgeable of all polices and services of the Credit Union and has an overall understanding of the duties and responsibilities of each member of the team.

Coordinates and monitors workflows ensuring all accounts are worked regularly and properly.

Responsible for monitoring queues and complying with state and federal collection regulations to ensure accounts are directed to the correct queue. This include monitoring all stages of delinquency, bankruptcy, repossession, foreclosure, hardship assistance, cease and desist, management and hold queues.

Regular and consistent attendance required.

Completes all other tasks, assignments or functions as assigned and/or required.

Promotes a positive relationship between the members (internal and external) and the Credit Union and understands that service delivery to members is the number one priority of the Credit Union.

Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Knowledge & Skills

Three years to five years of similar or related experience

A two-year college degree and/or experience will be considered.
