Under the general guidance of the VP, Loan Operations, the incumbent is responsible for the management of residential, consumer, and commercial loan collections related activities, systems, and processes. Responsible for maintaining an in depth understanding of related company policies and procedures, investor guidelines, mortgage insurance guidelines, FCRA, FDCPA and all state and federal regulations. Performs all collection duties as needed.Responsibilities:
1.Manages assigned staff in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures providing oversight, direction and work assignments to achieve department goals. Provides coaching guidance and identifies appropriate development opportunities and resources for assigned staff to ensure continuous improvement.
2.Responsible for the management of all collection activities involving residential, consumer and commercial delinquent accounts and delinquent real estate taxes. Works with customers to establish payment plans or escrow accounts to cure default and improve the Banks collateral position. Specifically works with commercial lending personnel to communicate and coordinate all commercial loan collection activities; also interacts with residential and consumer lending areas as needed to ensure optimum customer results and Bank outcomes.
3.Responsible for independently maintaining an in depth level of knowledge of all related policies, procedures, investor and mortgage insurance guidelines and related regulations. Ensures collections related procedures and practices comply with all related requirements.
4.Makes recommendations for loan workouts, modifications or short-sales to assist borrowers who are struggling to meet contractual agreements, thus assisting the borrower during a time of financial difficulty, and preventing imminent foreclosure or repossession.
5.Corresponds with legal counsel and monitors progress of all loans in process of bankruptcy, Repossession or foreclosure. Oversees processing of paperwork and prepares bids for foreclosure sales in accordance with investor and private mortgage insurance guidelines subject to review and approval by VP, Loan Operations. Attends foreclosure auctions as needed.
6.Monitors and coordinates all actions related to abandoned real estate properties or bank owned properties, including establishing value, negotiating with contracts/vendors for necessary repairs, ensuring property security and insurance coverage. Works with insurance companies and negotiates settlements to ensure proper reimbursement for any loses.
7.Takes primary responsibility for all HAMP analysis, underwriting, consultation, modifications and all necessary monitoring and reporting.
8.Prepares various monthly and ad-hoc reports as needed to facilitate tracking, document progress, and inform management as required.
9.Manages the collections system parameters and functionality to maximize utilization and to ensure effective workflow and documentation.
10. Actively manages coordination and communications together with Deposit Operations, Loan Operations and borrowers in order to ensure the timely review and confirmation of appropriate actions/decisions regarding processing Cash items and NSF payments.
11. Performs all duties and responsibilities of a Collector as needed to maintain established collection department standards.
12. Satisfactorily completes all required compliance training and complies with all regulations which apply within the scope of the position.
13. Performs additional duties as requested.Requirements:
1.Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business preferred
2.Or 7+ years related banking/collection experience with at least five years of prior collections management experience including commercial loans, with responsibilities for both supervision of employees and processes.
3.Knowledge of lending procedures, loan functionality and lending regulations.
4.Demonstrated in depth knowledge of state and federal regulations related to collections/operations, investor reporting guidelines, private mortgage insurance guidelines including HAMP
5.Excellent written or oral communication and human relation skills required, including the ability to work with customers in an effective, sensitive and respectful manner.
6.Strong organizational and negotiation skills. Accuracy and the ability to pay close attention to detail.
7.Extensive working knowledge of FCRA, FDCPA, and investor and private mortgage insurance collection and default servicing requirements.
8.Detail orientation with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy and strict adherence to related policies and regulations.
9.Superior organizational and prioritization skills; ability to use logical reasoning to identify discrepancies or suspicious activity trends; strong customer service and written and verbal communication skills; strong personal computer skills, including working knowledge of standard MS desktop applications with the ability to learn associated bank systems.
